Issues reported with Online banking transfer

One of the buyer has reported issues with online Bank transfer. The amount has been deducted from account and there is no order confirmation on eBay. This is also seconded by our own experience of very low sales in last 2 days.
Here is what has been reported-
"
Dear frnz,

I made a payment for purchasing 2 games frm ebay.in this evening.
I chose the option to pay through bank transfer and after clicking confirm, i was not shown any confirmation nor anything. Instead the page was blank. Money was deducted from my account but there is no confirmation about that in ebay nor in my cart.
Please assist me in this issue.

We would suggest  buyer to have the transaction id ready and contact eBay paisapay support on chat. We do not recommend calling them on helpline as they keep on hold for hours on a paid call. Transaction id or reference number can be found from the statement available on online banking account statement.

i2cworld / GEB Purchases- Problems

There have been numerous problems happening on eBay because of GEB. The seller being a very big company is seriously not bothered about buyers. eBay is getting a big commission as fees so it is also keeping mum.

GEB is a protected id on eBay. That means it cannot be suspended for non performance. So be very careful while you are dealing with any of GEB items. Remember -
1- they wont communicate after you have paid.
2- For every other purchase you will get a wrong tracking number which GEB will enter just to block the money.
3- And eBay executives cant do anything about it
So be very careful with GEB purchases.

Here are some of experiences put on by buyers about GEB or I2Cworld -

"
I ordered a Lenovo Thinkpad x201 costing about Rs. 60000 using GEB through the seller i2cworld_inc3 on 22-Oct-10. I got a message that they shipped the order on 29-Oct-10 and that it should reach me latest by 13-Nov-10.
The problem is that their tracking never updated. It always said "22-Oct-10 New York Item received". I called their phone number a few times, but the operators kept transferring me from one extension to another till the phone disconnected. I emailed them directly and through the ebay system but received no reply despite the assurance of a response within "1-2 business days".
I made a refund claim on 14-Nov-10. There still was no communication from the seller. I came to know today that the laptop had been delivered to the shipping address on 16-Nov-10. It is in perfect condition and as described. I wonder why a seller who actually delivers the goods behaves in such a casual way even when a relatively large transaction is involved.
My laptop (which is on my lap right now) is still lying in New York according to the tracking feature on iccworld.com!
Although I am pleased with the item, I was forced to assume over the last few days that I had been defrauded of a large sum. Hence, I left neutral feedback. I hope the service is better next time.

this GEB format leaves MUCH to be desired.

there is little clarity on where is the item you purchased, or when will it arrive, or what to do when you get a wrong item. you will just end up getting your hard earned money getting stuck for weeks.
is it something wrong with I2C-world, or the entire system of GEB?
I paid Rs 21000 for a watch purchased on GEB on 18-october. Item hasn't even left New York- as confirmed by I2C ( I was told that i2c received an 'item not as described', and so returned it. The seller hasn't even given a new shipment date). I am supposed to receive it by 10-november; but it seems impossible, as the item hasn't been shipped yet. It was though nice on the part of i2c to return the item to the seller- there itself; and saved ME taking all the trouble to do that.
Though I will file for refund on 10-november, and get my money back. But the bottomline is: Is it really worth taking all the trouble to purchase from GEB?
Some serious actions are required by Ebay, else it will loose popularity here..

I purchased an item from Global Easybuy - (GEB - 220653246064 - 8 inch Google Android Apad Tablet ) from international reseller i2cworld_inc3 on 15th August 2010 at a price of Rs. 8832/-

When the item arrived, I found that its a 7" one and not 8" (yet another fraud). I contacted reseller who promised a replacement. I sent back the item by spending Rs.350/- on 4th september by blue dart.

On 24th September Sameera from eBay called me up and informed that seller is unable to provide a replacement and will refund the amount and shipping charge and that it will be credited to my a/c within 6-7 working days.

That did not happen. Yesterday (11th Oct) I called up eBay and they said money has already been refunded. I checked my HDFC Bank a/c from where I made the payment and there was nothing. The eBay customer support says they have nothing else to do. My bank says they did not receive any money to my a/c from eBay.

I am trapped in-between and don't know what to do. So far I advocated online purchase from eBay to all my friends citing the much touted "Buyer Protection". Now after facing a loss of a huge sum, I am totally shaken. Had I not returned the item, I would have lost a lesser amount. But I relied on the so called "eBay Buyer Protection".

The peculiar thing is that I did not receive any email from eBay intimating that the sum had been credited to my account. I only came to know when I called up their customer service. Strange things are going on. I even suspect a fraud somewhere in the line. My friends used to say that these kind of online purchases never work in India. Now I think they were right.

There are other numerous experiences of buyers who have been cheated on GEB, you can all check them by searching eBay India community board. So final word be very careful.

How long for item to appear on search result after listing?

One of a seller- ra*****2 on eBay has a doubt-

" Hi I had listed my item in the morning 8:30 today (17 Nov 2010) for a 10 day listing. Now it is showing 9 days and 16 hours for expiry in my ebay sell, but when i see in the signal booster listing my item is not seen at all. Please don't tell me a lie it is all there... i can take you screen shots and send you.... but you guys are cheating.

Why such a substandard service from ebay India for non-shop sellers? That is the sreason i had stopped selling on ebay for long time... even after 2 years there is no improvement in your service. You guys are more interested in fees rather than on your service.

I   am Highly disappointed  "

eBay Reporter replies-

For non shop users it will take about 12 hours minimum for the item to be indexed and visible in search result, so have some patience and wait for 12 hours to pass. Also it is recommended to use firefox or IE for listing item, because as informed by ebay management Google chrome is not supported when any forms are used like while listing item.

What eBay Employees say about eBay-

eBay Senior Manager:   (Past Employee - 2008)
Pros
People are super smart and there are a lot of great ideas generated when everyone gets together. The eBay brand is still admired by many outside the company, and it's known as a place that recruits top talent. Not sure if that's necessarily as true as it used to be, but I certainly value the contacts I've made there more than at other places I've worked.
Cons
People are super smart, so there can be a lot f political backbiting and indecision when there are too many ideas on the table.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership needs to manage its managers more carefully. A slightly more directive style might benefit the organization, so you don't have 3 groups all working on the same thing.

eBay Anonymous:   (Current Employee)
Pros
Great co-workers and friendly environment.
Cons
Poor communication from top management
Advice to Senior Management
Too much time and effort put into projects that don't have impact. Focus resources on the few big rocks that really do matter.

eBay Anonymous:   (Current Employee)
Pros
Values employees opinions
Good work life balance
Cons
Execution on large projects needs improvement.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus more on getting things done the right way, instead of pushing product that isn't quite ready. Can't continue to "build the plane while we're flying it".

eBay Senior Manager:   (Current Employee)
Pros
The people are great for the most part, and the work life balance is fantastic! The quality of your management is a crapshoot, lots of smart people but not always great people managers.
Cons
The organization is dysfunctional and wastes a ton of time and resources every year in reorgs and politics. The company is only productive 6 months out of the year at best.
Advice to Senior Management
Spend less time doubting your strategy every 3 months and put more emphasis on execution and give it time to succeed or fail instead of pulling the plug halfway through.

eBay Staff Software Engineer:   (Current Employee)
Pros
Smart people with good attitude
Cons
Can be quite hectic at times.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen more. Put more thought into over all vision.

Cons
a lot of bureaucracy to get things done. Overemphasis on meetings. Need to have a meeting for every little thing
Advice to Senior Management
allow for slightly more leeway in decision making, and offer more training to new hires. especially on the semantics involved with the day to day job

eBay Anonymous:   (Current Employee)
Pros
eBay the brand name. i think most people get carried away by this, but there is nothing more to it.
Cons
no work life balance. no appreciation for work. destroys your skillset. no new technoligies. eBay framework that make it very difficult to work. no career path.
Advice to Senior Management
before trying to do innovation try to get the basic things right. site is very complex and you are making it worse. lear to value people.

eBay Anonymous:   (Current Employee)
Pros
The people for the most part are cool.
Cons
Too many middle managers. Lack of promotions or raises. Too many reorgs.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward people for their work, not their connections

eBay Anonymous:   (Past Employee - 2008)
Pros
the perks was very good ; lots of smart people; very interesting projects; fun environment; stable environment with very little turn over

low pay and no sense of direction from mid managers; office politic can prevent upward promotion; can over work difference makers
Advice to Senior Management
better incentive program; train mid managers to communicate better with direct reports; boost morale with better off site activity; feels like an old company

eBay Product Manager:   (Current Employee)
Pros
can test out many career paths by transferring internally
work/life balance is better than average
Cons
pedestrian caliber of people, you will not be impressed by your co-workers
lack of clear vision from the management team on how to revive business can be frustrating
periodic layoffs are a threat
Advice to Senior Management
Stop outsourcing so much, at the end of the day it is not cheaper if it takes 5 times as long.
Empower agile development, current model is just too slow

eBay Anonymous:   (Current Employee)
Pros
Management team of the very best out there. Synergy in between teams could improve, as well as balance of tasks.
Cons
Not everyone gets a picture of why things are being done although having said that they are open to listening when you have an issue.
Advice to Senior Management
I think the overall change in business model although a good move could have done being made a while ago.

eBay Anonymous :   (Current Employee)
Pros
Good benefits. Some good people, if you're looking for friends. It's not a fun place to work, but there are fun people who work there if you want to expand your social circle.
Cons
Don't expect to be listened to or treated like a human being. You are simply there to answer calls and if you're unhappy, you're replaceable in this economy.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop mistreating people and start listening. Ever since you decided to put the customer first, you've been putting the employees last. There needs to be more balance. You need to give your employees a reason to be good employees. Happy employees make happy phone calls and thus happy members. Give us a reason to care about the members rather than treating us like peons.
